A night watchman flees in panic from the morgue where he works and is accidentally run over. The police are called in to conduct the investigation because of some inconsistencies that are detected, and the inspector soon discovers that the body of a recently deceased woman is missing. He then decides to turn to the widower of whom he begins to suspect.
